Living in Cyprus
Cyprus is a very beautiful island country, located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Geographically it is located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, east of Greece, west of Syria and north of Egypt & south of Turkey.
It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, having Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and Greece. The island has two main mountain ranges i.e. the Troodos Mountains and the Kyrenia mountain Ranges. Apart from these beautiful mountain ranges, Cyprus is full of magnificent and charming beaches and stone villages.
The official languages of Cyprus are Turkish and Greek but English is spoken widely. It has a sound economy. It is a base of several offshore businesses because of low taxes.
Cyprus experiences a subtropical climate, with mild winters and hot summers. Summers are usually dry and winter experiences some rain. Snow is possible only in the Troodos mountains.
As far as the cost of living is concerned, Cyprus is cheaper as compared to other European countries. The accommodation will cost from € 300 to € 500 per month. The cost of food items is very low. The three-course meal in a mid-range restaurant is available at € 50. On transportation on an average one has to spend € 1 per km.
