Test Requirements In Canada
Different provinces follow different rules while admitting international students. Most of the provinces require a minimum of 12-year formal education while the Quebec and Ontario accepts 13 year of education. Apart from these all students have to appear for IELTS or TOEFLS exams.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test which is accepted by various institutes for granting admission. This is a standard test for measuring proficiency in English. For undergraduate score needed is 6.0/6.5 and for postgraduate 6.5/7 score is needed.
TOEFL stands for Test of English as Foreign Language is another standard test which is required for admission in Canada. This test helps in checking the competency in English for non-English speaking persons. A score of 80 or above in TOEFL is required for undergraduate and 90 or above is desired for postgraduate.
Some institutes require the other tests like GRE (Graduate Record Examination) and GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) in addition to IELTS or TOEFLS. The widely accepted test is TOEFLS but some other English tests like Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), or the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) are also accepted.
