Work While You Study In USA
International students are allowed to work for 20 hours a week in order to earn money. During vacations, they are allowed to work for 40 hours a week. As the cost of living is high, most of the students prefer part-time work.
The student can get a job on a campus as well as outside the campus. On campus, they can work as teaching assistants or research assistant. By this type of job, they can earn $6 to $ 10 per hour. They can also get other jobs in the campus in coffee shops, restaurants, bookstore, library etc under the university’s administrative officer.
After completing the first year, students can apply to work as a resident assistant. In this, they can get free accommodation or small salary or a meal plan in return.
To work outside the university one has to seek special permission. However, it is not granted always.
